Composite Development and Characterization (CDC) Laboratory

Composite Development and Characterization (CDC) Laboratory in NERIST is under Mechanical Engineering department. It is dedicated to develop new composites materials and evaluate its performance. The lab is developed with state of art experimental facility for preparation of composite and Nano composite materials using bamboo –epoxy, glass fibres, polymer, natural fibres and metal matrix composites. This thrust area explores the synthesis of materials that seamlessly blend innovation with sustainability, propelling the frontier of composite material applications. The CDC Laboratory serves as the backbone for an array of research activities, with a pronounced focus on the development and characterization of cutting-edge composites.

Specific areas of research emphasis include:

  • Preparation of new composite materials and fabrication facility.
  • Synthesis of composite
  • Design and preparation of laminated composites/nanocomposites
  • Characterization of developed Composites
  • Studying the performances developed composites: mechanical and ribological properties, etc.

Collaborative Network: The CDC Laboratory thrives on collaboration. Research activities extend beyond NERIST, with collaborative projects involving faculties and scientists from esteemed institutions such as IISc Bangalore and IIT Bhilai. This collaborative approach amplifies the impact of our research, fostering a culture of shared knowledge and collective innovation.
