Entry @NERIST

The Institute admits eligible candidates to its various programmes of study, viz., Undergraduate Programmes (Certificate, Diploma, and Degree Modules) through Entrance examinations/tests conducted by the Institute. The conduct of entrance test and declaration of result for admission to various Undergraduate Modules in accordance with the rules of Institute shall be entrusted to NERIST Entrance Examination Committee (NEE-Committee).

The distribution of seats for the established undergraduate courses of study in Engineering / Technology & Forestry shall be made as per the reservation policy of respective North-Eastern States and All-India reservation quota applicable to SC/ST/ OBC/General/PWD/EWS, as given in Academic Regulations of the Institute.

This apart, a student can also join NERIST through JEE Mains conducted every year.

Entry through NERIST Entrance Examinations (NEE):

NERIST conducts entrance Examinations every year for two different independent modules.

viz., Certificate and Degree modules:

NEE-I (Certificate Module)

The first entry is at the Certificate Module after Class X through NEE-I. The duration of the Certificate module is two years (i.e. four semesters). The vertical mobility from Certificate Module to 4 (Four) year degree module, the minimum CGPA to be obtained by a candidate is 6.50 out of 10.00 within the specified duration of the course. The candidate who fails to obtain CGPA of 6.50 out of 10.00 in the Certificate Module, s/he will be considered for 3(Three) years Diploma Module {2(Two) year Certificate Module + 1(One) year programme}.

NEE-II(PCM)/PCB (Degree Module):

The student after Class XII with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics are eligible for B.Tech.  courses  and  the student after Class-XII with Physics, Chemistry and Biology through NEE-II for admission to Degree Module leading to B.Sc. honors degree in Forestry of 4 years’ duration (Eight Semesters).

NEE-III (Degree Module-Lateral entry):

The student must have passed/appeared the 3-year Diploma course from any Government recognized polytechnic / institution in the respective or allied discipline/ branch given in this Information Brochure with a minimum of 60% marks considering aggregate marks of all the three years’ together/CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or NERIST Diploma Module with a minimum of CGPA 6.0.

Entry through JEE:

The Institute also participates in the JoSSAA/CSAB counselling and the student who qualifies the JEE and opt NERIST for B.Tech. courses can join the Institute through JoSSAA/ CSAB counselling process.

Entry through NEPGET:

The Institute conducts the NERIST Post Graduate Entrance Test (NEPGET) to admit eligible candidates to its various PG & Ph.D. programmes.
