Research Ecosystem, NERIST

The NERIST Board of Management in its 51st meeting held on 28.08.2001 had approved the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) Cell in NERIST to look after the smooth running of various sponsored research projects in the Institute. In 2005, NERIST received Deemed to be university status and PhD program started. Gradually number of projects increased. Maximum number of projects we received in 2018-19. Then again number reduced because of COVID. Now again it is increasing. Till date, 169 PhD students got awarded and currently 128 students are doing PhD as full time and 71 as part time. NERIST has established 09 Research Laboratories in various departments.

So far we have completed 66 sponsored research projects and presently running 15 research projects funded by various funding agencies like CSIR, MHRD, MOEF, MoWR, DST, AICTE ICAR DBT MOEF – GB Pant NMHS-GBPNIHESD SERB ITRA(MeiTy) SAC (ISRO), Coconut Development Board ICSSR NECTAR As per UGC guideline no. 1-5/2021 (NEP/Desk-Parl.) dated 14th March 2022, nomenclature of Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) cell of NERIST has been changed to Research and Development Cell (R&D Cell) on 21st June, 2022. As per UGC guideline, Research advisory Council (RAC) has been constituted as below: We are in the process of creating dedicated infrastructure for the Research and Development Centre which will include all research related cell (like R&D Cell, IIIC, IPR cell, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Cell etc). Under Research and Development Centre, we are in the process of developing

  1. Skill Development Centre (as per the guideline of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojna (PMKVY) 4.0.)
  2. Innovation Spoke Hub (Under the guidance of Divyasampark I-Hub- IIT Roorkee)
  3. Startup Lab (AI and Deep Tech Lab (Startup lab) 
  4. Nodal Centre for Entrepreneurship Programme (Under Ministry of Micro, small and medium Enterprises; MSME)

NERIST have established MoUs with higher educational institutions like IIT Roorkee, RGU, Advance level Telecom Training Centre, BSNL, Ghaziabad. MoUs with IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati are in progress. NERIST also has collaboration with industry for implementation of R&D project. NERIST has MoUs with Mahindra &Mahindra for validation of software and with water resource department of Mizoram for Flood forecasting.
