Instrumentation Lab

Department of Chemistry

The instrumentation laboratory of the Department of Chemistry is located in the 24-classroom building, Southern Block.  The instrumentation laboratory was established to provide the instrumental and analytical facilities required to characterize the compounds synthesized by M. Sc. Project students and doctoral students of the Chemistry department. These days’ research scholar and M. Sc project student of the Department of Chemistry performs different analytic and kinetic studies of synthetic as well as biological samples to understand their reactivity and the possible application in different field using the facilities available in the instrumentation laboratories. The sophisticated instruments purchased through different sponsored projects carried out by faculty members of the Chemistry department are also kept in the instrumentation laboratory for the benefit of all the research scholars of the department.  Currently, the instrumentation laboratory has the following analytical and instrumental facilities

  1.  UV-Visible spectrophotometer: PerkinElmer Model: LAMBDA35, with Integrating sphere for powder sample studies (Diffuse Reflectance)
  2. Hitachi PC controlled double beam UV-visible spectrophotometer with temperature controller (Temperature Range -15˚C to +110 ˚C), [variable bandwidth] with high-resolution original concave, diffraction grating, U-3900 (Japan make)
  3. Shimadzu FT-IR spectrophotometer (IR affinity)
  4. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (Shimadzu)

Doctorate students, post-graduate students of the other departments of the institute, and Ph. D students from nearby institutes of Arunachal Pradesh also use the facilities of the instrumentation Laboratory when required.

In-charge of the Instrumentation Lab:  Dr. Jagannath Bhuyan, Asst. Professor, Department of Chemistry
