A one-pot synthesized anthracene derivative with certain anticancer potential has been reported as a probe for CN^– detection via a 1,4-addition reaction. This is the first report that defines the effectiveness of an easily synthesized Anthracene-based probe with anticancer activity for real-time fluorometric detection of CN^– ions.
