World Environment Day 2026

On the occasion of the World Environment Day – 2026, the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh organized a series of events from 21st May to 5th June 2026. The Department of Forestry of the Institute has taken the initiative in organizing the events. The celebrations were held under the global theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” Activities included essay competitions (21st May), elocution (25th May), invited talks (26th May), and quiz competitions (27th May), which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of NERIST Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, Nirjuli and NERIST. These events highlighted the commitment of young learners towards environmental awareness and sustainability. The students’ participants showed their interest and willingness to work for the conservation of our forests and the preservation of the environment. Emphasis has been given to contribute to reduction of the environmental pollution, particularly the nonbiodegradable materials like plastic. As part of the programme, a Plantation Drive was also conducted on the campus.
